The village of San Martino di Castrozza originates from the charitable institution of  Saints Martin and Giulian that hosted the wayfarers who used to cross the Rolle Pass. The church with its Romanesque bell tower is the last remains of the original building. The tourist resort and the first hotel date back to 1873. Back in the beginning of the 20th century, San Martino di Castrozza was a well-established tourist resort and a location attended by upper class of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.  San Martino is immersed in a green basin,  surrounded by the Natural Park of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino, and framed by the majestic peaks of the Dolomites;  the Cimon della Pala, the Vezzana, the Rosetta, the Sass Maor, the Cima della Madonna, he Cavallazza and the Colbricon. A real naturalistic paradise!
