The church with its Romanesque bell tower is the last remains of the charitable institution of  Saints Martin and Julian that hosted the wayfarers who used to cross the Rolle Pass and from which San Martino di Castrozza originates. The tourist resort and the first hotel date back to 1873 and, as far back as the beginning of the 20th century, San Martino di Castrozza was a renowned tourist resort attended by the upper class of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Immersed in a green basin and surrounded by the Natural Park of Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino and framed by the majestic peaks of the Dolomites;  the Cimon della Pala, the Vezzana, the Rosetta, the Sass Maor, the Cima della Madonna, the Cavallazza and the Colbricon, San Martino is to be considered a veritable naturalistic paradise!
